Hi Mr.Anjenya,

Superb article. Very true.

The current ready for marriage 'generation' is going through a turmoil as they are nowhere between the two. They mostly seem to be torn between commitment issues or they are just trying to delay the inevitable.

The older gen without understanding, is at times pushing hard as this is the last of the pre-mobile / wireless generation in the society. The new age group is not going to be apart of any of this societal pressure for sure.

Like the old quote goes: Dont marry the one you can live with. Marry the one you cant live without.

Nice article

Regards

All the melodramatic moments mentioned in the blog are, one needs to understand the parents ways of expressing anger and anguish over what their offspring has brought upon them. This is the anger over the fact that they would now be treated as outcastes in their own ecosystem (society), the very fear of people talking behind their backs and the realisation that their dreams of marrying off their son/daughter to a person of their choice i.e. fitting their desired parameters evaporating in thin air. These very psychological insecurities turn parents into monsters who are ready to even kill their offspring for such wrong doing (in their parlance) "Khandaan ki naak kat gayi" especially if it is a girl who has erred. It is just a case of "Kya kami reh gayi thi humaari parvarish main" as in Hindi movies so to speak.

On the other side, I think as youngsters, we should also respect our parent's sentiments and try and gauge their reactions to such situations and act accordingly. I do know for a fact that my mother may not like my falling in love and getting married with a woman who may or may not be of my caste leave alone religion.Hence I for one always steer clear of any such indulgences and resist from temptation. A small sacrifice for a greater good.

Even if they may appear happy in a superficial manner, deep down in their hearts, there will be a sense of betrayal that they may attribute to their child ( We are always childern no matter how aged we are!!!) which may manifest in various different forms.
