Here is the Part 1 of the Tutorial: Creating Fire Effect: Part 1

Part2: Creating ICE Effect in Photoshop:

Ice effect
Take a new file with black background and type a word you want.

For example if have written “ICE

As far as possible use some Big / Bold Font style like IMPACT to give you the proper effect.

Rasterise the text layer and merge down with the background

Now go to menu Filter>Stylize>Solarize

After this, go to menu Image>Adjustment>Auto Levels

Now we have to rotate our canvas in 90° CW.
Go to menu Image>Rotate Canvas>90° CW

We have to now give a wind effect.
Go to menu Filter>Stylize>Wind

Select “Wind” under Method and “From the Right” under Direction

Repeat this step for 4-5 times, here i have used same step for 4 times

Now rotate back the canvas to its original position.
Go to menu Image>Rotate Canvas>90° CCW

We will now give ripple effect to the image.
Go to menu Filter>Distort>Ripple

Set the value of Amount to 100% and Size Small

The image will now look like this

Now create a new fill layer.
Go to menu Layer>New Fill Layer>Solid Color
And just select OK from the New Layer window.

Select the color that will have a feel of ice, i have selected #0e67df.
Change the blend mode if the new layer as Vivid Light

We are almost done with the image, we now just have to give it a icy glow effect.
Select the background layer and go to menu Filter>Filter Gallery

Now Select the Distort Menu and under that select Diffuse Glow

Set the values as
Grainness – 0
Glow Amount – 16
Clear Amount – 13

With this our final result looks like this

To further Improvise, you can use few tools like Brush, Eraser as below:

To Soften the Bottom Edges of the Image, We have taken a soft brush and used it to erase and black out few of the bottom edges and make it smooth

You can further tone down the “Blue-ness” of the Image by using Photo Filters from Image- Adjustments – Photo Filter

Select whatever drop down suits your style, but for Ice, recommended would be

Underwater at Maximum of 100% density

This is how your final file should look like:

ICE

Creating FIRE & ICE Effect in Photoshop – Part 1

Creating FIRE Effect:

Select a new file with background color black

Type the text you want to, I have typed “FIRE” with font style Impact. Change the color

of the text to white.

Rasterize the text layer and then merg down to the background.

Now go to the menu Filter>Stylize>Solarize

Go to menu Image>Adjustments>Auto Levels

We will now rotate the canvas in clockwise direction.
Go to menu Image>Rotate Canvas>90° CW

Now, give the wind effects from the Filter.
Go to menu Filter>Stylize>Wind

Now select “Wind” option from Method tab and “From the Left” from the Direction tab.

Repeat the same step for 3-4 times. I have repeated it 5 times.

Now, rotate the canvas to its original position.
Go to menu Image>Rotate Canvas>90° CCW.

We will now give some ripple to the image.
Go to menu Filter>Distort>Ripple

Select the Size as Small and Amount as 100%.

Now is the part where we begin to Give the Text a look of fire.

Now to keep the file size in Control and get hold of that unique color mode titled “Color Table”,

this is what we need to do.

First, convert your file to Grayscale. This brings down the file size a lot.

Now, to get that magical color table (the one at the bottom of the  above image – not highlighted),

we first need to convert the mode of the file to Index Mode.

Select the Discard from the message that will appear

Convert the color mode to Index Color. Go to menu Image>Mode>Index Color

Now we will change the color scheme of the Index color and use the Color Table which is available for selection.

Go to menu Image>Mode>Color Table

After this, select the Black Body option from the Color Table’s drop down menu.

The image now looks like this.

The Black Body option once selected, will give you Your Effect.

We will now give some glow to the fire but before that, since our color mode is in Index Color,

the Filter gallery will not work, so we have to change the color mode to RGB again.

Go to menu Image>Mode>RGB Color

Now we can give the effects what we want.
Go to menu Filter>Filter Gallery

Select Distort from the Style Menu and under that select Diffuse Glow.
Set the values
Grainness – 0
Glow Amount – 10
Clear Amount – 12

That the final step and our image looks like this

Creating a Stunning Rays Text Effect in Photoshop

In this tutorial we will learn how to make ray effects coming from behind a text. Take a new file with white background.

Fig.1

New File

Type any word you like, I have typed “TEXT”, select a font with bold nature, I have selected “Impact” font. To start with, try this tutorial with the same font.

Now, make a copy of the layer “TEXT”

Go to layers panel, right click on the layer “TEXT”, select Duplicate Layer and hide the new layer which u just duplicated.

Now rasterize the layer “TEXT” and merge down with the background layer.

Now, we start up with the main part of our work. With the layer background still selected, give the solarize effect.

Go to menu Filter>Stylize>Solarize.

Then Go to Image – Adjustments – Auto Levels. Click on Auto Levels that will give your Text a white coloured outline.

Your image should now look somewhat like this.

Now we will apply Polar Coordinates to this

Go to menu Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates

Select the option Polar to Rectangular

Your image will be stretched and distorted, but don’t worry, we will come back to the original shape in our further steps, but first we have to rotate our canvas 90° anti clock wise.

Go to menu Images>Rotate Canvas>90° CCW

Now, we will apply some wind effects to our image.

Go to menu Filter>Stylize>Wind

Select ‘Wind’ option from Methods and from the Directions select the option ‘From the Left’

Repeat the same step so as to get the rays like effect look more. I have repeated three times to get that perfect rays like effect. This is how the image is now looking.

Go to menu Image>Rotate Canvas>90° CW

Now we have to make our image look like it was earlier. So go to menu Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates and select the option ‘Rectangular to Polar’

Now we are back with our original shape with rays coming out
The image should now look like this

We will now give some color effect to the rays.
Go to menu  Layer>New Fill Layer>Solid Color.

Just select ok in the New Layer option and select any color from the color palette, i have chosen orange shade #f06f21.

Change the blending mode to whatever you feel good with the effect, here i have selected Overlay.

Now,  our work is almost over. Now, make the duplicated Text layer visible.

Change the font color of the text that suites you best,I have chosen white.
And that’s the final output

You can Add Multiple repeats of Wind and then brighten your Text with richer and more radiant colour / fill / pattern or even Gradients to create Your very own Stylized Text Effect. Note, this can be applied even to shapes for different effects.

Sample Tutorial Effect on a Shape:Circle – Sun Blast / Eclipse Rays image attached below:

Rays Effect

Only TIME will tell….

changing time

I believe in dreams…. I work towards a probable destiny but yet, the concept of the TIME god scares the living hell out of me… I am just another ordinary guy scurrying around in the rat race of life.

Travel has taught me more about life and people than any formal education could ever have. I find myself surrounded by millions of my rodent friends each trying to grab a piece of their share of the cheese everyday.

Failure has never scared or pulled me back as some power greater than all beings has been generous enough to grant me the ability to bounce back every time till date. I have been told not to think too much as all we need is to keep doing our part of the routine and not worry about what’s in store.

The probability of failure has never impeded me as an area of concern but what I did and all that I could have done makes me feel the pulse of the kicking prey on the crafty spider’s web at all times.

My idea of travel is not just to make a livelihood. In the process, I learn so much from all that is superior and great and observe and comprehend the don’ts from around, that travel has a larger count to my daily learning.

I was at RIE Mysore this whole week.

The sheer simplicity of the place humbled me to the core in the sense that right from the passionate research and innovation of culture, learning and customs that happens over there by the masters shrinks down the egotism of the self.

This place had just the most basic needs to stay and the most necessary things to Live. It has knowledge and information to the core, depending on how and how much you can take and share.

My daily count of learning has helped me enhance my knowledge of life, people and processes so much that the thirst to act on it has only increased manifold over the years. Hence the fiery desire to perform and contribute seems to be doubling everyday within me. Life has taught me over the years that the maturity to deal with things is more important than the ability to resolve.

TIME has taught me from Life and observation that there is none powerful than TIME itself. All we possess are the skills and passion to grow and let grow and if that seems to be missing, I guess its time to let go.

I seem to now understand why real education and actual learning are of prime importance today as they embed values more than anything else and empower us with the ability to fight, shield, defend and emerge from our daily actions.

But when it all ends…. Will we be known for what we did or would we be remembered for the change we brought ….. I guess… Only TIME will tell….

Till then… keep learning and keep growing…

Be Well

Life: Taking my breath away – 'SIMPLE' things

Simple Dreams

As I pondered at the starry sky for the moments that were spent I could plainly see the spills on the carpet and the stains on the mattress. I kept thinking I needed to improvise, a change would be good said my sanely perplexed brain.

Again, the dove flew off like the starry night before. Today, it reminded me of a work of art from one of the famous Italian painters and my mind wandered into one such artists words. He had said that an object that has been assimilated or formed and now needs no addition, no editing and no change is pure beauty…

Thank god for those famous quotes by artists.

That’s what I felt today, at the end of the day… it was beautiful… it was stunning… it was pure and perfect ….. simply because it was “SIMPLE”

My brain came to the present and looked at the wonderful things that were gifted to me till date.

It did not make me overlook the demands and the twinge, but gave me enough nerve to keep fighting, never go down on hope and have a conviction, a stronger faith in myself.

I had a horrible yesterday but had an awesome day today.

Had an amazing and astounding 10 hour sleep (keeping in mind my usual sleep of not more than 4-5 hours), woke up fresh, had a glass of my favorite mixed fruit Tropicana, did some workout and had a stupendous brunch fit for a king with a great friend of mine who also is an important part of my routine, someone from whom I take a lot of advice.

The day ended perfectly with a call from my side to a very kind and sweet relative wishing him on his birthday today which is a huge deal because of the fact that I barely remember even my own birth day.

At the end of the day, I had good food, great friend, amazing family and an awesome book to read not to mention my grand day with loads of real keeping fit routine and some virtual game plays on my computer.

So, I had grown up a bit today but with zest and loads of energy.

I was responsible for something that was not part of my job, I was with and around those who cared and vice-versa, I put enough energy into my physical and mental training today and after a long time could write a simple post for a blog, not too long and just like my day, could keep it simple.

So I guess, it’s not just the remarkable mind blowing things that make impact on us. It’s also these simple aspects from our everyday that make us cheerful, gives us hope and courage to face life with belief, dedication and optimism.

So….

When things go wrong

And life gets crude

Hang on to the soulful hope

That never keeps you aloof

Kiss her hand and breathe in her heart

Sing a song to the blues

and play your part!

— Ananth V

god bless and be well
