Twitter: Personalized Branding BG

Posted by admin | Posted in Bloggers Zone, creative, creative writer, creative writing, Creativity & Know-you, digital art, Education & Learning, Freebies, Graphic & Animation Softwares, Photoshop tutorials, Popular Web blogs & links, Search Engines, SEO, social bookmarking, social media marketing, Social Media Quotient, Social Networking Sites (SNS), technology, twitter, Website Design services | Posted on 30-07-2010

2

Why do you need a personalized background (BG) for your Twitter Profile?

Personal branding is the key term here.

Let us look into the “WHY TO” for creating your own personal twitter background.

In our earlier article, Twitter, the power of Micro-blogging we have given few tips, tools, guides, how to use, free twitter background creating applications etc – Power Of Twitter article Link Here

Here are a couple reasons for why you might want to build your own BG for twitter:

Personal Branding Twitter

WHY Twitter BG

Your Twitter BG should be created keeping in mind the above 4 categories:

BRAND – What does your Brand speak of

PRODUCT – Core Products Mentioned

AUDIENCE – Target Audience expectation

MESSAGE – What you intend to Tell them

Who needs to create a personalized twitter background profile?

Corporates, Professionals, Freelancers, Marketing Consultants, Freelance consultants, Artist, or anyone who needs to reach out to a target audience with a clear message, a personalized background helps you tell people who you are and what are you here for.

It also helps you to create a one pager profile including your core services, your skills, interests, website/blog & other details with your contact information for others to reach you directly.

For eg.

Take a look at our Customized Twitter Background, simple, nothing too flashy but yet creative and connecting with the user out there. We needed to keep in mind that:

1. We are a creative advertising & marketing agency with core services

2. Offering across multiple platforms.

3. We needed to portray ourselves as we really are, corporate yet creative and in sync with the latest in technology out there to help our clients achieve the best outcomes / goals.

Techdivine Personalized Twitter BG

@Techdivine

Make sure in the process of creating a customized creative twitter background, you do not forget who you really are and what is the message that you would like to give your user.

Guide to creating your own Twitter Background:

Size requirements: There are mainly two things you need to be sure of:

  1. File size needs to be less than 800 Kb
  2. Your Background image should fit into most screen resolutions (To be safe: Create an image higher than 1024 X 768 Pixels)

Next, the actual dimensions. This is important because improperly-sized images can be covered up by your Twitter profile or can start to tile, which often leads to an undesired effect. In most circumstances, you want your background to be large enough not to tile. To achieve this, the total image size should be around 1600px wide by 1200px tall. This encompasses almost all screen resolutions. The dpi can be kept at a little higher resolution of around 90 here for a high quality image.

Dimensions of Margins:

Right Side & Left Side: Maximum 240 Px width and Max 500 Px height

This is so as to keep in mind that the middle area of the twitter content does not majorly overlap the background image at most of the resolutions. Keep in mind that a computer with a low resolution of 800 X 600 Px will see only part of the images and not the whole picture / background image. So make sure, the text content in the design is always closer to the margin area and smaller in width size.

Creating a customized Twitter Page:

Use a background image that is free from copyrights or create your own using photoshop or such other image editing software.

How to plan a twitter background for your Personal Brand?

What we considered when we planned our Twitter BG:

What our Twitter BG means:

The core is the Coffee cup on top middle with the letters TD on top of the foam distinct denoting identity clearly visible across any platform and medium.

TD Brand Mark Idendity

Techdivine Mark

The coffee mark denotes the core efforts and hours of inputs of a creative artist.

twitterbg mark personalized

Dedicated Hours

The white badge denotes our flagship product which is social media marketing services.

socialmedia marketing

social media services

The wood and pencil in the scene stand for traditional values, integrity, strength and ethics whereas the edge of the laptop denotes fresh ideas with the best that technology has to offer.

social media to stay strong

Strong Values

social media monitoring

Monitoring tools

Finally on the left side our contact information with few of our core connecting platforms including Blog, SNS, site and our core products and services.

social media sites connect

Social media connect

Just like we had planned above on how we needed to present ourselves to our friends, colleagues, peers etc via our twitter BG page, the first thing you need to do is create a simple storyboard of what you need to tell your audience. Once you are clear with that, start with the background of your design.

Step 1: Creating a Background – Select the right background that suits your theme, message and style.

Step 2: Select few Props for your page like Books, carts, chocolates, graphs, fabric etc depending on what is your core product and service.

Step 3: Make sure the Contact details furnished by you are accurate and not too complex for the reader to understand. Remember, the average surfer would spend not more than 15 – 30 secs on your page unless you have something very exciting and bang on target. So make sure the textual content is not too much, but has the right links and contact sources.

Step 4: Your Logo, icons for the pages should again be in sync with the theme you have selected.

Step 5: Once your image is ready, go to sign in to your twitter account, and follow the steps given below:

personal branding

Set the Range to 40% and check the box Anti-aliased.

Fig17

Range Anti Aliased Text For Contour Effect

Fig 17.

We are almost done with our text part. The Image should now look somewhat like this
Fig18

Glass TEXT Effect in Photoshop

Fig 18.

But you must be wondering that there isnt any light reflection on our background image. So at our last step we will complete that too.
Just create a new layer under the original text or above the background image

Step 12

After creating the new layer and as this layer is active press Ctrl+G to group this layer.
What happens when we change the Blending Mode of this group to Color Dodge is that, Dodging this grouped layer is a quick way of blending with white color with transparent layer. And with the new layer still active, while pressing Ctrl click on any of the text layer to make the selection of the text.

With your empty color dodged layer selected, click the Add layer mask  icon in the bottom of your Layers palette and then do a Ctrl + I to invert the mask. You’re ready to start dodging.

Use a soft white brush, about 45px in size and 15% flow, and make some gentle strokes in front of the glass’s highlights. You can tone down the layer’s opacity (80%) if things get a little too bright.  Final Image Below:

Here is the Part 1 of the Tutorial: Creating Fire Effect: Part 1

Part2: Creating ICE Effect in Photoshop:

Ice effect
Take a new file with black background and type a word you want.

For example if have written “ICE

As far as possible use some Big / Bold Font style like IMPACT to give you the proper effect.

Rasterise the text layer and merge down with the background

Now go to menu Filter>Stylize>Solarize

After this, go to menu Image>Adjustment>Auto Levels

Now we have to rotate our canvas in 90° CW.
Go to menu Image>Rotate Canvas>90° CW

We have to now give a wind effect.
Go to menu Filter>Stylize>Wind

Select “Wind” under Method and “From the Right” under Direction

Repeat this step for 4-5 times, here i have used same step for 4 times

Now rotate back the canvas to its original position.
Go to menu Image>Rotate Canvas>90° CCW

We will now give ripple effect to the image.
Go to menu Filter>Distort>Ripple

Set the value of Amount to 100% and Size Small

The image will now look like this

Now create a new fill layer.
Go to menu Layer>New Fill Layer>Solid Color
And just select OK from the New Layer window.

Select the color that will have a feel of ice, i have selected #0e67df.
Change the blend mode if the new layer as Vivid Light

We are almost done with the image, we now just have to give it a icy glow effect.
Select the background layer and go to menu Filter>Filter Gallery

Now Select the Distort Menu and under that select Diffuse Glow

Set the values as
Grainness – 0
Glow Amount – 16
Clear Amount – 13

With this our final result looks like this

To further Improvise, you can use few tools like Brush, Eraser as below:

To Soften the Bottom Edges of the Image, We have taken a soft brush and used it to erase and black out few of the bottom edges and make it smooth

You can further tone down the “Blue-ness” of the Image by using Photo Filters from Image- Adjustments – Photo Filter

Select whatever drop down suits your style, but for Ice, recommended would be

Underwater at Maximum of 100% density

This is how your final file should look like:

ICE

Favourite Ads

Dear friends,

This blog post is long overdue from my end. Finally after a quality survey in the last 2 weeks, I am writing this post on ADVERTISING as requested by many of our readers from India.

Its been just over 7 years and across 18 Brands that I have divided my time between both the worlds of advertising and marketing. But luckily the new age techniques got added and with that I always realized that in today’s scenario, what is needed is a combination of a real time connect with the audience.  Only then will we  be able to touch base at varied levels with the today’s consumer. There is a long journey ahead and as I finally pooled in the survey results yesterday conducted with scores of members of TECHDIVINE Creative Services, the results were simply splendid.

A brief Introduction of this post:

Advertising, what it meant before: ‘A form of communication with an intention to persuade the viewer to buy or consume a particular brand or product’

Today: Advertising is “Information with quality entertainment to build a strong appeal and generate immediate response”

There are too many types of advertising methods & techniques that have been developed over centuries.

Right from the time when kings and queens ruled, walls and rocks were inscribed, painted propagating the merits of the rulers.  Soon, people themselves started delivering messages and advertising the rulers by saying out aloud the success of the rulers to its masses.  Then came the time when boards and people holding boards with messages were popular.

But the whole scenario changed with the introduction of print media entering the scene. Soon there were printed advertisements and flyer’s all around.

Advertising was evolving quickly. Radio, broadcast, Product advertising using guerrilla advertising techniques, infomercials, online advertising, mobile advertising, social media marketing and so on.

The highest recorded spot individual advertising spent was in the year 2009 wherein during the super bowl football game, an average single 30 second TV ad during the event cost around $ 3 million. Whoa!

What has changed the scenario so much?

As we looked into many different aspects of it, lot of our members gave their views of their favourite ads seen in the last 1 year  (India).

The message was clear. The viewer today needs more than just flashy content.

The audience today needs:

  • A clear message
  • Brand appeal touching base with the product characteristic
  • Strong relevance and message to product association
  • Strong concept
  • Easy Brand recall
  • A possible legendary icon if it could create  that the viewers can relate to
  • Lots of quality entertainment

Few of the favourite ads (All medium – Print / Video / Online….) as chosen by our members & our views on the same too:

Closeup Revolving door:

Our Views: Superb ad. Nice blend of the right tone and style of message across. Fresh and it works!

Airtel Ad:SRK

Our Views: Superb Ad. They could not have chosen a better man to endorse the same. SRK, the King himself connecting with a humble message “Akele hum kuch bhi nahi…”

Incredible India:

Our Views: Probably the best from the lot. Personally, our First Favourite. All stars!

Vodafone Zozoo ad: International Roaming:

Our Views: ICONIC. Superb ad(s). All the ads are simple, humorous & have a clear Message. The character is LEGENDARY! Connects with audience of all ages.

Center Shock ad:

Our Views: Good Ad. Appeals to the product’s target audience.

“Old Ad”: But still listed as favourite: Fevicol:

Our Views: Superb Ad. Personally, our second favourite.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk:

Our Views: Superb Ad. Clear, precise and connects. As most of the Cadbury ads.

Bajaj Pulsar Ad:

Our Views: Good Ad. Flashy but a little overdone.I guess they are right, definitely a  male!

Tata Docomo: Ganesha

Our Views: Superb Ad

DLF IPL 2010:

Our Views: Superb Ad. Jut as the brand, a powerful appeal and an amazing visual connect. Just like the game, larger than life.

Coca Cola Ad1:The Library

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKV0kR6Ih0s

Our Views: Superb Ad. Visually and in terms of the message. A perfect combination of Brand and appeal.

Coca Cola Ad2:

Our Views: Good Ad. Nice connect.

Max NewYork: Cricket

Our Views: Good ad.

Pepsi:

Our Views: Ok Ad. Ranbir at his best so far. But the appeal could have been a much hard hitting message than what is. The connect somewhat seems to be missing here for a beverage drink especially for the ‘YOUNGISTAN’.

Union Bank of India promoted the running of joint bank accounts with a print advertising campaign featuring one of India’s most well known couple: Mohandas Karamchand (Mahatma) Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi on India’s 100 Rupee note: M K Gandhi Ad campaign

UBI: M K Gandhi Ad: Joint Account

Our Views: Superb Ad.

Aseema Childrens Trust:

Aseema Ad

Our Views: Superb Ad. Powerful and gets the message across clearly.

That wraps it up for this post……….

Do give me your views and comments on the same.

Would love to hear from you.

Regards,

Quote for the Week on “Inspiration”

INSPIRE

INSPIRE

Life doesn’t cheer the weak the timid or those content with their fifteen minutes of fame.
It applauds the dreamers, the adventurers and those who swore to rise above horizons.

For only those bold enough to chase dreams are the ones who finally catch them.
It doesn’t matter who you are today, what or who you were and what you will be.

All that matters is the legacy you finally leave behind.

Did you become all that you are capable of becoming?
Did you give more than you could take?
Did you achieve your dreams, while all around you thought you were chasing illusions?

Think, plan, implement and contribute – GROW more than just ‘numbers’

Have a great weekend!
