Astronauts aboard the International Space Station<\/a> received a special software upgrade this week that gives personal access to the Internet and the World Wide Web via the ultimate wireless connection.<\/p>\n

Flight Engineer T.J. Creamer<\/a> made first use of the new system Friday, when he posted the first unassisted update to his Twitter account from the space station.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the tweets made from space were to be e-mailed to the ground where support personnel posted them to the astronauts\u2019 Twitter accounts.<\/p>\n

Makes us wonder about the power of the blue bird<\/a>: Will twitter be the first social media micro tool to travel through Space?<\/p>\n
