Prasad Np DesiTraveler

1) Your Full name:

Prasad Np

2) Your website / Blog / LinkedIn / Twitter / Instagram urls:

3) What does digital marketing and social media mean to you:

Social media is an immensely powerful and creative means to amplify one’s voice using the collective consciousness and cooperation of universe to collaborate on issues that are relevant for the long term survival of our planet. We need to learn to focus on the relevant and cut the noise by carefully choosing the right medium and the message.

4) Share few snippets or a brief story on how you got started in this amazing journey:

It started as a hobby where I shared snippets with no set plan or frequency. Slowly the blog and my social media presence evolved with a clear direction in sustainable travel, supporting local cultures and people with an active online and offline effort to conserve our natural resources and species that we share the planet with.

5) How has Digital marketing or social media helped you in your business, passion or journey so far:

I am grateful to the reach of social media that has given me both moments and memories to cherish with. From being recognized in So Delhi Conclave for my travel blog to making online friends and meeting them in person has been a journey I am eternally grateful for. I was recently in Assam and Nagaland and some of my online friends kept all their work aside to show me around. Can you ask for more? A friend in every corner of globe thanks to social media only. On business front many new clients have approached me after seeing my work online. Some of those clients are now dear friends.

6) What do you feel will change in terms of how digital is used in your field in the year 2017:

Henry Ford once said, he knew half of every dollar he spent on advertising was wasted. He just didn’t know which half. With social media analytics it was to change and the marketing managers and more so CFOs of organisations spending top $$s now expect bang for every buck out of their bank. Unfortunately so far the ad dollars spent on social media marketing also end up in a black hole. I think this will change in the coming months and years and advertisers will require real numbers and real social media reach. Days of smoke curtains in social media should get over sooner the better both for social media marketers as well as influencers.

7) What aspect of digital or site or tool or feature has helped you the most in your business, passion, journey till date and what has changed the most in the past few years:

I personally like and use Buffer App a lot. It has made my job much easier to schedule and post my social media updates more streamlined and also gives me breathing space to create better content.

8) Your most memorable journey memory till date that happened because of digital marketing and your business or brand or passion integrated as one:

1. Sometime back I was trying to create awareness about an Old Baobab Tree in Hyderabad so that it is not further damaged. Soon the story was picked up by a local newspaper and later I even found it on Reddit. Now that is what I would say my passion and commitment for our planet getting a boost thanks to social media.

2. Also I am very happy to share that on my blog desi Traveler, many a new travel bloggers and photographers were featured early on and it was one of their first features outside of their blog. Today many of them have made their own mark in the social media in general and blogging in particular that makes me very happy and proud.

3. On business front a few of the start-ups that I now consult and have invested in approached me after checking my profile online and I must we would have never met collaborated had it not been for social media.

9) In case you would like to share a case study based step by step experience in terms of any milestone or success you have achieved using digital marketing or social media with your passion, business and or brand, please feel free to do so with us:

I think a lot of us want social media success be it blogging, twitter or any other form of social media. But in order to take shortcuts we forget the very basic thing that is applicable in real life that – Rome was not built in a day. I am approached by many a bloggers about blogging tips and then they do just the opposite so I wrote this blog post that summarizes the same : http://desitraveler.com/how-to-kill-your-blog-in-10-steps

10) What are your plans for 2017 with respect to what you do on a day to day basis in terms of following your passion or dreams:

For me social media is like free flowing water that will find its own level. But I do hope to be able to cut out the noise and work on my time management skills to be more productive.

Well, THANK YOU for your time Mr.Prasad.
