“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth – Muhammad Ali”

Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility has always been a key factor for every team member associated with Techdivine Creative Services.

This time one of our friends Ms.Dobani, shared with us something that was close to her heart and a very important aspect of life that many a times we tend to have ignored even without our own knowledge.

One of our team members had a long conversation with Ms.Dobani and we mutually shared our involvements across various NGO works over the years.

Which is what brought us today to share this important date.

Today on 1st October, we celebrate the very reason for our existence here on earth with “WORLD ELDERS DAY

Social Corporate Responsibility World Elders Day

World Elders Day

The TISS group (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) batch of “TISS Gerontology – Batch 2009-2010″ has prepared a wonderful presentation that would take just few moments from your precious time to share something that is extremely valuable and very much in need of ATTENTION not in any other way, but in the form of your thought and your concern for the same, that’s all.

We are sure that you would take few seconds of your time and go through this wonderful presentation on WORLD ELDERS DAY and share it with your friends too.

Always remember, Life will give you back everything you have given to it. So care while you share!

Blogs replace Magazines with Social Media Marketing

online

connect online

That would be a powerfully misquoted statement, especially in today’s “give them all” technology served new age media world.

I recently read somewhere of the statement above and was utterly confused. Today the digital age and new media are here to work collaboratively and give every consumer what they are looking out for.

Let us look at two scenarios based on a B2B and B2C with a practical approach and perspective.

A top class executive from a big corporation today will prefer to go through the sites online probably during his lunch break of which he might have allotted his daily ‘surfing’ time to be not more than 5-10 minutes which too is on the higher side. Having worked at different levels of marketing & product departments with Directors, Presidents and departmental heads of MNC’s and corporate biggies, this is the one thing that I am extremely sure about. Here too their rigid schedule is made up of email alerts added to their daily dose of reading related to their industry and market so that they do not spend time searching online. Their schedule revolves around a set time every single day. Time is everything. Today we find them working while traveling to and fro from work in their automobiles. Yet, we find the subscription to corporate & industry based magazines being the highest from their group.

Why? Because underestimating the power of print is pure ignorance of the true power of real connect and reach.

Now looking at the second scenario & coming back to the daily consumer by shifting away from the corporate board room. The average consumer today feels comfortable looking at a print magazine at his time of leisure. As a matter of fact, we tend to ignore any ad based pop-up and flashy banners that ‘surf-up’ during our browsing time. Another point to look and give a deep thought is the power of the print media even today especially in third world and developing countries.

The chances of an average consumer looking at a print ad in a magazine and then browsing about it online are much higher than vice versa.

Why?

The age of technology & new media have also pushed across boundaries of providing one with massive information across industries. Today, I spend on an average reading about nine to ten thousand (10,000) pages of content and news information every single week across media’s. Still there is so much updating needed.

With all of these factors, the right way to reach a consumer today, be it a B2B or a B2C consumer is by blending in the traditional media with the new age technology and providing both to the consumer. A magazine today has much stronger power in communicating a message than a blog to an average household as it reaches and is delivered in hard copy in their hands. It adds up a trust about the company, about the team of professionals associated with the organization and gives one a form of assurance about the organization being real and not just another virtual company with a work from home concept who would be handling your brand or product.

The idea to cater to both the scenarios today would be to add a healthy amount of resourceful information in your magazine for local demographic distribution and use the power of online media for a much larger field zone with more content and resources.

As a generation gifted with the power of speed & timely information it is our core duty to today combine all that we can and leverage it to fulfill the needs of the advertiser and at the same time serve as a catalyst who not only evangelizes a brand but also caters to the consumer’s needs.

Blog rules, sites dominate, social networking is growing massively, but the power of a media tool works best when you have both the traditional media and the new age technology combined as one.

Make sure when you hand over your product or brand to any agency that they are not just another technically sound organization promising a higher seo for website and analysis, but understand the market, consumers and have a powerful presence too in the web today. Make sure to know if they themselves practice what they preach and if they do, they would have a much better chance to deliver than anyone else.

Go local, get global and stay connected. But most importantly make sure that in the race to reach a client across seas we do not miss out on a prospect next door who needs the same set of services too.

Go BRAND Yourself!

Give us your views on the same. We would love to hear from you.

“PRESS” THIS

PRESS evolving to ‘Press this’: In India

Press this

Press Evolution:Newspaper

By press in common parlance we usually refer to Printing press, but in journalistic & mass communication terminology, we mean print media such as newspapers, periodicals, magazines, news agencies, press syndicates and any such printed material.

The idea behind forming a press in terms of newspapers and similar related agencies has been to share public information, from the nation or the people themselves and create a powerful vehicle of expressions and information. Today, newspapers have evolved in terms of not only content but also the way it is presented to the mass across countries.

From the time of Maharajas (Kings) and before the period of Christ, we can see wall carvings, signs and stone art symbols across cultures and religions. Kings like Ashoka and Mughal emperors have made powerful use of these media for ages to keep the public informed and educated.

As wall carvings went to the next level of stone and sculptures with writings to newsletters  as manuscripts, the development of the printing press was gradually taking place. Soon enough India found its first official newspaper courtesy of James Augustus Hickey in the form of Bengal Gazette in the year 1780.

The first printing press was established in Mumbai in 1674, second in Madras and third in Calcutta in 1779. Hickey’s Bengal Gazette also known as the Calcutta General Advertiser began on 29th January 1780. It was described beautifully as a ‘weekly political and commercial paper open to all parties but influenced by none’

The first two decades of the 19th century saw rigid control of the Press by Lords Wellesley and Warren Hastings. In-spite of this, slowly the Indian readers were soon enough exposed to a very large number of printing houses in the form of newspapers and newsletters across Mumbai, Calcutta & Madras in the form of Darpan, Dig Darshan, Samachar, Friend of India etc.

During this period came the father of the Press industry revolution who raised the need, awareness and to give what the press very truly deserved, “the freedom of the press”, he was none other than Raja Ram Mohan Roy.

Soon enough there was established the first truly owned Indian newspaper by Gangadhar Bhattacharya which was also called as the Bengal Gazette. Rapid developments across languages soon evolved in the form of print press in Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Gujrati, Tamil, Malayalam, Assamese, Punjabi in the later part of 1850’s. As another decade moved in with the war of independence breaking in, the press became more prominent, more popular and a much needed power tool for information and education for people in general.

When we look into the advantages behind a newspaper and such other print media, even if there is low subscription or reach in terms of actual sale of the IP of newspapers, magazine, newsletters etc. the readership finally goes high. Especially in a country like India where there is still a huge number of people who are not literate, the news spreads in the form of sharing information from person to person. So the power of PRESS is a revolution on it’s own.

Over decades as the most famous and influential newspapers such as Bande Mataram, Kesari, Maratha, Free Press Journal, Madras Standard, Bombay Chronicle etc kept creating waves, so were prominent influencer’s like the great Mahatma Gandhi, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Kasturi Ranga Iyengar etc associations with it.

The support for this medium of education and information became larger than life. Soon enough the influence to influence increased with technology contributing and forming a major role into the digital revolution of information sharing.

Today with millions of users across globally, India ranks high amongst users of internet and stands 2nd across Asia and with more adding up every day.

One of the most popular forms of using press or print information across India today is through blogs and micro blogs. No wonder we find more and more newspapers and magazines going ‘online’ and being a part of the larger revolution of the ‘spot content generation & sharing era’.

Today press has taken a larger role of not only entertaining and educating but also of rapidly evolving with the passage of time. We will soon be seeing a lot more of micro blogging platforms and blogs presenting the power of Press to us.

So till then, press this, share and keep evolving & learning!

3 Years of Blogging from Creative Writers Blog: 199 Posts & 1120 Comments: Thank You Dear Readers & Dear Authors!

This is our 200th Post today:

As we would have loved to add a special touch to this 200th Post, we have one of our very celebrated writers from the Young Talents Zone, Mr.Aditya K, to add his experience again in beautiful words. To make this more special, we requested Mr.Aditya to share two of his most recent learning experiences and he did.

Reconnect: Part 1:

Young INTACH

Young Intach

ReConnect’s First Expedition

The five members of Mumbai’s first Heritage Club, ReConnect, and our mentor Mrs. Gaynor strolled over to the main gate of the school, intently waiting for the Jeep that would drive us through our first expedition. We all hopped in, sorting out our stationery while the car rolled through the dug-up roads of Juhu, heading directly for Bandra. We crossed archaic buildings like the Mithibhai College, the coarse waters of the Juhu beach, the Talao Lake, St. Joseph Convent from 1803, St. Peters Church, St. Stephens Church and finally our destination, Mt. Mary. Mount Mary was a basilica, meaning it contained relics of a great person. This basilica is extremely famous in Mumbai, and has a huge fair in September to celebrate the birthday of Mary.

The members of ReConnect marched to the entrance of the basilica, where we noticed the heavy Portuguese influence on the construction. We noticed the silence of each footstep rebounding off the high arches that formed the dazzling ceiling, intense with bright designs like the walls which portrayed the life of Jesus in vivid colours. The tall statue of Mary stood amidst vibrant flowers looking down on the benches.

After noting down facts, we leaped back into the vehicle in awe. We rode into St. Andrews, where we got a jolt to find graves dating back to 1908, piled out in the entrance like paving stones.

After taking down& closely observing the features of the church, we rode back to school.

Going on this one trip has increased my knowledge on the heritage of Mumbai and the history behind it by acres. It has been a great learning experience.

Love Mumbai!

Thank you

Aditya K

Reconnect: Part2:

Five heartbeats boomed across the MPH as the remaining students of the audience marched in. Could they hear these heartbeats? The five of us who were crouched backstage could definitely hear them. We waited in anticipation for Mr. Craig to finally announce us on to stage.

We five members of the ReConnect (Heritage Club) were prepared to do a magnificent assembly with two grade 11 students. After everyone hushed down, the presentation started in full swing.

We were introduced one by one and the information began to be let out, little by little. Our topic for the assembly was World Mother Language Day, which takes place on February 21st. Our main concerns were about languages going extinct and how to prevent that. Each of the members walked over to the spotlight and presented a given topic about Mother Languages.

My topic was the death of an 82 year old lady in the Andaman Islands. But it was not just the death of a human but also the death of the language Bo, of which she was the sole speaker. Now even languages are endangered; not just our animals. ReConnect revived and presented the numbers 1-10 in Bo. This was followed by every one of us presenting a short speech in our mother tongue.

The assembly ended with an intense debate about whether it is better to learn and preserve your Mother Tongue or the universal language, English. As it turned out, both of them are important, as you should communicate with everyone in a mutual language and maintain your mother tongue. I am certain that everyone left the assembly hall soaked with information!

However, this assembly was the second event of ReConnect that week- the first one will be remembered by most of the women staff in Middle School. Since it was International Women’s day on Monday (18th March), we members of ReConnect went handing out roses to all the females we encountered in the school and received numerous You made my day!’s from them.

These events have made us in ReConnect more confident in approaching people, as well as given us more information.

Thank You.
