Apple has finally made the iTunes Store live in India, enabling consumers to buy music and to purchase or rent movies. The iTunes store is available in 119 countries allowing users to choose from over 20 million songs from a wide variety of genres.

Songs are priced from 7-15 Indian rupees whereas albums can be brought for as little 70 INR. This should help to cut down on the piracy of music in India. Users can take their pick from bollywood songs, classical or pop, to even tamil songs. Of course you also have the choice of international music from all major record labels.

Movies can be rented for around Rs 80 in SD or if you prefer a crisp quality, HD is available for Rs 120. You can also buy movies for Rs 290 in SD or Rs 490 for HD formats. You can gift a movie or share it to your social networks as well.

The only grouse as of now is that TV shows are still not available. But that should be remedied soon enough. There are already quite a few sites like Flipkart and Gaana.com that allow users to purchase music online. But the iTunes Store has a quite wider variety of music to choose from at quite affordable rates as well.
